Dr Dinesh Palipana OAM

When medical student Dinesh Palipana suffered a severe spinal injury in a car crash, he was told his dream of becoming a doctor was over. Now he’s Queensland’s first quadriplegic doctor, working at one of the state’s busiest hospitals.

Marion Keane

A former nun turned weightlifter, at age 77 Marion won her category of Powerlifting Australia’s national competition. From caring for her late husband who suffered Parkinson’s Disease for twenty years, Marion joined a local health club to deal with the stress of being her husband’s principal carer, and went on to become a powerlifting champion.


Geoff Haigh OAM

Rotarian, Soldier, Engineer, Bush Walker. In February 2012 Geoff was returning from a morning walk when he fell and was paralysed from the waist down. His story to be all he can be is one of courage, determination and resilience. In 2018 Geoff was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia. Come, hear his story.
